Commerce Announces Americorps Grants

The North Dakota Department of Commerce today announced that North Dakota has received $705,125 in AmeriCorps funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service. The 2016 grants focus on investments in economic opportunity, education, veterans and military families, disaster services and continue a new initiative for governors and mayors. 

Below is a listing of 2016 AmeriCorps grants in North Dakota: 
  • YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties - $351,301 - 64 AmeriCorps members
  • West Fargo Public School District - $189,149 - 41 AmeriCorps members
  • YouthWorks – Bismarck & Fargo - $76,846 - 11 AmeriCorps members
  • Cooperstown Community Activities Association - $37,444 - 10 AmeriCorps Members
  • South East Education Cooperative - Fargo - $36,592 - 11 AmeriCorps members
  • Housing Authority of the City of Grand Forks - $13,793 - 4 AmeriCorps members 
“Congratulations to these outstanding organizations and thanks to all those who serve their communities through AmeriCorps,” North Dakota AmeriCorps Program administrator Ryan Volk said. “In North Dakota, more than 1,800 AmeriCorps members have served 2 million hours and earned more than $4,510,000 in education scholarships.” 

Since 1994, 980,000 AmeriCorps members have given more than 1.3 billion hours of service to their country, earning more than $3 billion in education scholarships. Later this year, the one millionth AmeriCorps member will take the AmeriCorps pledge, committing to "get things done" for America.
