Homelessness 101 Training Scheduled for February 11th

The Missouri Valley Coalition for Homeless People with the help of the North Dakota Department of Commerce will host a Homelessness 101 Training on Thursday, February 11th at the North Dakota Capitol Building in the Brynhild Haugland Room. The program will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Homelessness 101 Training is an introduction to the causes, barriers and history of homelessness, as well as the permanent solutions the communities are putting in place. The one-day program is open to the public who may want a better understanding of the dynamics and complexity of homelessness and also for individuals working in social service and faith communities. The training is free and CEU’s are available. 

The training covers:

·         Who, what and why people become homeless
·         Definitions and service mandates
·         The history and complexity of homelessness
·         Solutions that work to prevent, reduce and end homelessness
·         Harm reduction and housing first service styles 

The Missouri Valley Coalition for Homeless People, Inc. is a regional nonprofit dedicated to helping ensure that housing and other basic human needs are within everyone's reach in an affordable and dignified manner. The Coalition is comprised of over 40 members, all of which have an interest in the issues of homelessness and/or the less fortunate.
